European Gaming League (EGL) to return to Replay Expo!
We are pleased to confirm that the European Gaming League (formerly ECL) will be returning to this year's Replay Expo in Blackpool and will have a much larger presence than in 2010!
Confirmed tournament titles include Halo: Reach, Gears of War 3 (18+), Battlefield 3, Call Of Duty: Black Ops (18+) and FIFA 12. Check back next week for more information on competition formats and prizes.
The European Gaming League themselves will be holding their own event at the Emirates Stadium this weekend (29th-30th October). Replay will continue their partnership with the European Gaming League and once again exhibit at the event, bringing a host of retro games and small tournaments to enjoy over the weekend.
The European Gaming League (EGL) are the largest organisers of competitive console LAN events outside of North America. The EGL now support PC Gaming as well, with the recent addition of the popular PC title Starcraft II to their list of supported titles. Spectators of the European Gaming League get to enjoy the main stage experience and live commentary from top international casters. The event is also streamed in High Definition so fans at home can follow the action live from the comfort of their homes. So far EGL events have been tuned into by over half a million gaming enthusiasts around the world.
Players can compete in a team with their friends on Call of Duty: Black Ops on Xbox 360 or PS3, Halo: Reach, and a Gears of War 3 tournament, where they can take on the best players from all over Europe and play for a share of up to £7,500 on each title. Players can compete by themselves in competitions on FIFA12 on Xbox 360 and Starcraft 2 where they will play for a share of up to £2,500. Fans of Fighting games will be able to compete in four different beat-em up titles including Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition. The event will also feature a host of exhibitors, including Replay. Since its formation in 2010, gamers have won more than £48,000 in European Gaming League competitions. Spectator tickets are also available for £10 per day. Tickets can be purchased online or on the door.
