BAFTA Presents: The Rise & Fall of Imagine Software
Bruce Everiss, a director at Imagine Software, will talk of the triumphs and tragedy of Imagine’s heady days at the Replay Expo in Blackpool.
Replay also welcomes Paul Andersen, producer/director of the 1984 BBC TV documentary Commercial Breaks, which famously chronicled the company’s very public meltdown.
About Imagine Software ...
At the dawn of the British computer games industry, Imagine Software was its brightest star. Hit titles, massive sales, slick marketing, flash cars, teenage programmers too young to drive them ... the Liverpool based company seemed to epitomise the glamour and wealth of this brave new world.
Then came the promise of a ‘Megagame’ that would redefine what was possible on the Sinclair Spectrum. The hype and anticipation was immense.
The game never appeared. Instead came financial disaster, lies, recriminations and fire extinguisher fights.
The session is to take place on Saturday 5th November and will be introduced by BAFTA’s Dave Green and chaired by freelance journalist Paul Drury … who still wants to play Bandersnatch!
